Your stuff is your stuff.
The short version: we collect what we need to run the Club, we only show your profile to approved members, we never show your email to other members, we don't sell your information, and you can delete your account yourself at any time.
Who we are
The Well Shit Now What Club is run by Mel and Francesca. When this page says "we" or "us," that's who we mean. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send your sign-in codes, tell you when you're approved, and (if you said yes) send the Club Dispatch and event invites. |
| Your profile: name or alias, photo, headline, location, industry, where you're at, what you're open to, interests and the optional "about me" answers | So other approved members can get to know you. Everything except your name and one interest is optional. |
| Your choices: 18+ confirmation, newsletter yes/no and when you said it, whether your profile is visible | To respect your choices and keep a record of your consent. |
| Hellos and messages you send, and people you block | So you can talk with members who said hello back. Messages are private between the two of you. The founders only see a conversation if one of you reports it and chooses to share it. |
| People you save, and any reports you send | Saving is private to you. Reports go only to the founders so we can keep the Club safe. |
| Basic security data: a scrambled version of your IP address, sign-in attempts, and session records | To stop spam and abuse, and to keep you signed in for up to 7 days. |
| Stories or questions you choose to submit | For private editorial review. We only publish one if you gave permission and we approve it. |
Who can see what
- Other members see your profile only after you're approved, only if your profile is set to visible, and only while they are signed in and approved themselves. They never see your email address.
- Mel and Francesca can see member profiles, emails and reports so we can approve members, run the Club and handle problems.
- The public sees none of your Clubhouse profile.
The services we use
We use a few trusted companies to run the site. They process your information on our behalf and only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores Club data and photos.
- Resend delivers sign-in codes, hello and message alerts, and weekly roll-ups.
- Kit sends the Club Dispatch newsletter, if you said yes to it.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in to the Clubhouse. Your browser may also remember small things on your own device, like whether you've dismissed a welcome message. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't follow you around the internet.
A few pages load things from trusted services: event sign-ups come from Luma (which has its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies when you register), fonts come from Google Fonts, and spam protection on some forms comes from Cloudflare. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or identify you.
How long we keep it
We keep your account until you delete it. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes and old ones are cleared out. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, saved list, hellos, messages, blocks and sign-in records. Deleting your account also unsubscribes you from the Dispatch. You can also unsubscribe from any newsletter email, or turn the Dispatch off in Settings, and keep your membership.
Your choices
- Hide your profile anytime in Clubhouse Settings.
- Choose your Clubhouse emails: a weekly roll-up, right away, or never, in Settings.
- Block anyone from their profile or conversation. They aren't told.
- Turn the Dispatch off in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in any newsletter. You keep your membership.
- Edit or delete your profile and account yourself in the Clubhouse.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or anything else about your data, at [email protected]. Email from the address you joined with so we know it's you.
Age
The Club is for adults. You must be 18 or older to join.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let members know.
